Barbara Gasperini interviews Stefano Picchi, founder and Scientific Director of Triton Research, an innovative Italian entity focusing on developing projects for the protection and conservation of the sea. Within these projects, Triton Research is engaged in communication, dissemination, and coordination.

Established in 2019 by a group of experts and communicators in the field of marine sciences, the company aims to implement and oversee tangible initiatives in collaboration with both public and private institutions. Their goal is to improve the status of habitats and species in the “seventh continent,” raising awareness of the pivotal role the ocean plays in the planet’s functioning.

Alongside Triton Research’s initiatives, in 2021, the non-profit association Triton was founded. Leveraging citizen science (science derived from data collected by smartphones) and technologically advanced sensors in partnership with the University of Siena, Triton has developed and managed two ongoing projects aimed at safeguarding biodiversity: Life Conceptu Maris and Life Pinna.
